Gwangju Museum of History and Folklore
The Gwangju History and Folklore Museum, situated within Joongoe Park, presents exhibitions exploring the city's local history and cultural heritage. A highlight is the dedicated gallery showcasing Buncheong ceramics—a distinctive Korean pottery tradition. The museum runs educational programmes designed for primary school pupils, developed in partnership with local young artists, making it a valuable resource for visitors keen to understand Gwangju's historical and artistic legacy.

Life Science Hall
The National Science Museum of Gwangju, also known as the Sala de Ciencias de la Vida, opened in October 2013 as an interactive space exploring light and art—symbols of the city. Spread over two floors, it features hands-on experimental exhibits, theatres, and dedicated areas for different age groups. The museum is particularly well-suited to families with children, offering plenty to visit across its range of interactive displays and themed zones.

Open-Air Exhibition Space
The outdoor exhibition area at 중외공원 is an open-air space within the park showcasing large-scale historical and technical artefacts. Visitors will see a working steam locomotive, vintage aircraft, military tanks, cannons and agricultural equipment on display. It's a straightforward collection of industrial and wartime machinery that offers insight into Korea's modern heritage.

Rainbow Bridge
The Rainbow Bridge is a monumental sculpture positioned at Gwangju's entrance, facing the National Museum of Gwangju plaza within Jung-oe Park. Designed by sculptor Kim Young-jung, it was built and donated by POSCO in 1995 to mark the inaugural Gwangju Biennale, subsequently becoming the event's official symbol. A striking landmark that greets visitors to the city.
