What you'll hear inside Water Synagogue:
- 1Entrance Patio
This intimate courtyard features a covered portico supported by two original columns crowned with palmette capitals, their design symbolising the Jewish menorah.
- 2Main Hall
The main chamber of Úbeda's synagogue, this underground hall is divided into three aisles separated by pointed arches.
- 3Women's Gallery
The Galería de las mujeres is an elevated gallery in Úbeda's religious architecture, thought to have been reserved for women and young children during ceremonies.
- 4Bodega
This working cellar features a lowered barrel-vaulted ceiling with large earthenware storage jars, partially sunk into the floor.
- 5Mikve
This Jewish ritual bath, known as a mikve, was used for purification ceremonies following Jewish law.
