About this place
Pisa's oldest and finest bridge spans the Arno, rebuilt after the Second World War. It connects Piazza Garibaldi with the south bank and offers characteristic views of colourful buildings lining both sides of the river. The Ponte di Mezzo is best known as the venue for the traditional Gioco del Ponte, a competitive spectacle held each June where teams push a decorated carriage across the bridge. Worth a visit for both its historical significance and the bustling riverside atmosphere.
