About this place
The Porta di San Ranieri is a bronze door in the right transept of Pisa Cathedral, facing the Leaning Tower. Comprising twenty-four panels depicting scenes from the New Testament, it ranks among the few surviving major works by sculptor Bonanno Pisano. The original is housed in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, whilst the door you see at the cathedral is a high-quality replica. Well worth visiting to appreciate this remarkable medieval craftsmanship.
