What you'll hear inside Sainte-Chapelle:
- 1High Chapel
The principal chapel stands 15 metres high and once housed reliquaries of the Passion.
- 2Lower Chapel
The Lower Chapel, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, offers a more intimate setting than its counterpart.
- 313th-Century Stained Glass
An exceptional collection of stained glass spanning 615 m², featuring over 1,100 scenes depicting biblical narratives from Genesis through to the Resurrection of Christ.
- 4Western Rose Window
This striking Flamboyant Gothic rose window, measuring 9 metres across, was constructed between 1485 and 1495.
- 5Reliquary Tribune
An elevated platform within the apse, this is where the Grand Châsse was displayed, housing the Crown of Thorns and other relics of the Passion of Christ.
- 6Statues of the Twelve Apostles
A set of Gothic statues of the Apostles once adorned the pillars of the upper chapel, serving as symbolic representations of the pillars upon which the Church is built.
- 7Neo-Gothic Spire
This 33-metre spire, constructed by Lassus between 1853 and 1855, stands as a masterpiece of carpentry.
- 8Oratory of Saint Louis
The Oratory of Saint Louis is a private prayer chapel situated within the fourth arch of the south side of the building.
