Audio guide Luxembourg Gardens in English
In this audio guide, Emily Thompson takes you through Luxembourg Gardens telling the story as you walk. In your accent, no need to read signs — just let your eyes take in what's in front of you.
What you'll hear inside Luxembourg Gardens:
- 1Fontaine Médicis
This 17th-century Baroque fountain was commissioned by Marie de Médicis and features sculptural work depicting Poliphème, Galatée and Acis by Auguste Ottin.
- 2Grand Bassin
The Grand Bassin is the octagonal pond at the heart of this French garden where toy boats drift across the water, watched over by the distinctive green chairs that line its banks.
- 3Orangerie
This 19th-century building houses an impressive collection of 180 potted plants, including century-old orange trees and date palms.
- 4Luxembourg Greenhouses
The Serres du Luxembourg are working greenhouses housing an impressive horticultural collection.
- 5French Garden
This formal garden extends along the palace axis, featuring symmetrical parterres intersected by the Paris meridian and framed by statues of French queens.
- 6English Garden
An English-style landscaped area near rue Guynemer, where winding pathways deliberately contrast with the geometric layout of the French garden.
- 7Puppet Theatre of Paris
The Théâtre des Marionnettes is France's leading puppet theatre, founded in 1933 with a capacity of 275 seats.
- 8Pavillon Davioud
Built in 1867, this pavilion was designed by Gabriel Davioud and originally served as a café-restaurant.
- 9Verger conservatoire
Verger Conservatoire is a heritage orchard opposite the lycée Montaigne, dedicated to preserving rare and heirloom varieties of fruit trees.
- 10Monument à Delacroix
This monument-fountain, erected in 1890 by Jules Dalou, pays tribute to the painter Eugène Delacroix.

Google Maps reviews of this place
