Wartime Communications Section
Authentic and replica wartime radio equipment illustrating how Scapa Flow and the Home Fleet were defended. Highlights include bomber and Spitfire radios, a U-boat receiver, and a Morse key from a German aircraft shot down over Orkney in 1939.

Domestic Radio Collection
British and American civilian receivers spanning crystal sets of the early 1900s through to valve sets of later decades, with sets by EKCO, Cossor, Philco and others. A working 1912 crystal set lets you listen to BBC Radio Scotland through headphones.

Amateur Radio Station GB2OWM
A fully operational amateur radio station with its own official callsign, based inside the museum. It is especially active during the Orkney Science Festival each September.

Replica Radar Station
A centrepiece of the museum's wartime displays, evoking the radar installations that guarded Scapa Flow. It reflects Orkney's direct connection to the Chain Home radar network through the Netherbutton station.
