Está en la Plaza del Castillo, justo enfrente del Palacio Real, y marca el corazón histórico de la ciudad. Lo primero que sorprende es su altura y elegancia: Segismundo III Vasa se alza con una cruz en una mano y una espada en la otra, mirando hacia la ciudad a la que trasladó la capital. La columna en sí es original del siglo XVII, aunque tuvo que ser reconstruida tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Eso le da aún más significado: es un símbolo que resiste.
