Ongseong Fortress Wall

The Ongseong is a semicircular defensive wall positioned outside the Paldalmun Gate in Suwon. Built specifically to protect the main gate from battering ram attacks and other direct assaults, it functioned as a secondary barrier against invasion. This fortification demonstrates the sophisticated military architecture of the period, designed to reinforce vulnerable entry points and prevent the gate from being breached during siege warfare.
