About this place
The northern floodgate of Hwaseong Fortress, built across the Suwoncheon stream, features seven arched gates through which water flows, along with a pond and upper pavilion. It's considered one of the fortress's finest structures and ranks among Suwon's eight most splendid landscapes. What to see here includes the intricate stonework and the scenic views where water cascades through the arches, making it a remarkable example of 18th-century Korean military architecture.
