Seonodae (Western Crossbow Platform)
Seonodae, or the Western Ballista Platform, is an octagonal structure built from dark bricks with steep steps, perched on the slopes of Paldalsan. From this vantage point, archers could command broad firing angles across the descending terrain below. The platform's strategic position allowed defenders to cover multiple approach routes, making it a crucial part of Suwon's fortifications.

Western Cannon Tower
The Western Cannon Tower, also known as Seo-GunTower, stands midway up Paldalsan on the ascending slope between Hwaseomun Gate and the Western Command Post Seojangdae. It formed part of Hwaseong Fortress's tiered defensive system and was one of the most heavily armed positions within the entire walled complex.

Seonam Gangnu and Hwayangnu Pavilions
Seonam Gangnu, also known as Hwayangnu, is a pavilion perched on the south-western spur of Paldalsan. It sits at the end of the Yongdo branch, a fortification wall that descends from the hilltop. From this vantage point, you'll get sweeping views across Suwon, including the train station. What to see here is essentially the panoramic cityscape and the strategic layout of the historic walls themselves.

Torreón Sur (Nam Chi)
Nam Chi, also called the South Tower, is a fortification projecting from the Hwaseong Fortress wall on the southern slopes of Paldalsan mountain. Positioned along the southern section of the ramparts near Paldalmun Gate, it stands as one of the key defensive structures visitors encounter when climbing the steep stepped path up the mountainside. What to see here includes the tower's strategic positioning and its role in the fortress's overall defensive design.

Namgun Tower (South Cannon Tower)
The Nam-GunTower, or South Cannon Tower, is a defensive structure forming part of the southern section of Hwaseong Fortress's walls in Suwon. Positioned on the southern slopes of Paldalsan adjacent to Nam Chi, the South Bastion, this tower was built to provide artillery capability to the fortified compound's southern perimeter. The structure remains an important element of this UNESCO-listed fortress complex, which dates from the late 18th century.

Yongdo (Southwest Bastion)
Yongdo is a south-western spur extending from the main wall at the summit of Paldalsan, descending to the South-Western Pavilion, Seonam Gangnu (also called Hwayangnu). From this terminal pavilion, you'll enjoy sweeping views across Suwon, including the railway station. The vantage point offers one of the best perspectives of the city and surrounding landscape from the fortress.
