Temporary Detention Hall
The Temporary Detention Room is located within "An Experience Place", widely regarded as the most harrowing section of the prison. The room features deeply realistic reconstructions of torture scenes, based on documented accounts from detainees. What to see here demands emotional preparation, as the exhibits provide stark testimony to the conditions once endured within these walls.

Torture Chamber
The Torture Chamber stands as one of the most disturbing exhibits at Seodaemun Prison Museum, featuring meticulously reconstructed scenes of torture methods used during the facility's operation. Located within the "Experience Zone," this section confronts visitors with the prison's darkest history. The displays are intensely realistic and emotionally challenging, offering an unflinching look at the brutal practices that occurred here. This is undoubtedly the most harrowing part of the entire museum complex.

Execution Hall
The Execution Hall is one of the most sobering spaces within the Seodaemun prison complex in Seoul. During the Japanese colonial period, Korean independence activists were executed here as part of the resistance movement. It remains one of seven original buildings on the site and is designated as a historic monument. A visit provides stark insight into this difficult chapter of Korean history.

Yu Gwan-sun's Prison Cell
Yu Gwan-sun's cell, located in the basement of Seodaemun Prison, marks where this key figure of the Korean independence movement died. The austere, confined space serves as a sobering reminder of one of Korea's most significant historical martyrs. What to see here is a direct connection to her legacy—the actual conditions she endured. It's among the most moving areas within the prison complex, offering visitors a stark insight into colonial-era resistance and sacrifice.

Watchtowers
The watch towers are among the surviving structures from the original prison complex at Seodaemun Prison, now integrated into the museum and memorial space. Seven buildings in total have been preserved as historic monuments within Seodaemun Independence Park. These towers offer a stark reminder of the facility's penal past and provide visitors with insight into the architecture and conditions of this significant historical site.

Historical Material Hall
The Sala de Material Histórico occupies the first floor of the main building, in a space called 'Un Lugar de Reverencia'. Here you'll find exhibitions and information documenting Korean history during the prison period. This thoughtfully curated collection offers insight into a significant chapter of the nation's past, making it an essential visit for understanding Seoul's complex historical narrative.
