Empty Construction (Jorge Oteiza)
Jorge Oteiza's 'Construcción vacía' is a striking steel sculpture standing on Paseo Nuevo, composed of interlocking vertical and horizontal planes that define an interior void. Created in 1957, its full title is 'Construcción vacía con cuatro unidades planas negativo-positivo'. The work exemplifies modernist abstraction and remains one of San Sebastián's most significant examples of contemporary outdoor art. Visit this landmark to experience Oteiza's innovative approach to spatial form.

The Breakwater
El Rompeolas marks the start of the Paseo Nuevo, where it meets Calle Aldamar, and is the most exposed and dramatic section along the Cantabrian coast. This is the most photographed spot on the promenade, where Atlantic waves crash with their full force against the breakwater. It's an ideal vantage point for experiencing the raw power of the sea, particularly during stormy weather when the spectacle is most impressive.
