Madre y Cabeza de todas las Iglesias de la Ciudad y el Mundo. Incluida en la lista del Patrimonio de la Humanidad en Europa por la Unesco. Nos recomendó la visita nuestra guía por los museos vaticanos y realmente no sé, porque no estaba en nuestro itinerario. Es hermosa en todos sus puntos además de la importancia histórica y católica para nosotros

Quedé impresionado con San Pablo extramuros, más con Santa María Maggiore, y aun más con San Juan de Letrán. Esta inmensa iglesia reluce con la gran cantidad de brillo dorado, cómo por sus esculturales imágenes de los apóstoles. Todo es magnífico y lujoso, salvo la sillería que es de plástico. Recorrerla fue muy bonito, vale la pena su visita, a media hora de Roma Termini, caminando.

@searmolamarimorena Considerada la madre y cabeza de todas las iglesias del mundo, la Basílica de San Giovanni in Laterano (San Juan de Letrán) es la catedral de Roma y la sede episcopal del Papa, incluso por encima de San Pedro del Vaticano. Fue fundada en el siglo IV por el emperador Constantino, convirtiéndose en la primera basílica cristiana de la historia. A lo largo de los siglos ha sido testigo de concilios, coronaciones papales y grandes transformaciones arquitectónicas. En su interior encontrarás doce monumentales estatuas de los apóstoles y el antiguo trono papal, que recuerdan el poder espiritual que este lugar tuvo durante la Edad Media. Está menos concurrida que otras basílicas romanas y ofrece una experiencia más íntima, más espiritual.
