The Saporiti family coat of arms is carved into the stone exterior wall of the church, providing the oldest and most visible evidence of the building's private origins. Dating from the 17th century, it marks the direct connection to Cardinal Saporiti, who commissioned the construction of the church as a private family chapel and oratory. This heraldic emblem remains an important historical marker within Monterosso al Mare.
