Se trata de un velero Construido en el río Leven, Dumbarton, Escocia, en 1869 para la Jock Willis Shipping Line. Fue uno de los últimos clippers de té que se construyeron y uno de los más rápidos. Fueron sustituidos los barcos de vapor que asumieron sus rutas. Debe su nombre a la camisa corta de la bruja ficticia del poema de Robert Burns Tam o’ Shanter, publicado por primera vez en 1791. El buque fue vendido a la compañía portuguesa Ferreira and Co. en 1895. Estos lo rebautizaron como Ferreira. En 1922 fue adquirido por el capitán de navío retirado Wilfred Dowman. Entonces fue utilizado como buque escuela desde Falmouth (Cornualles). Tras su muerte fue transferido al Thames Nautical Training College, Greenhithe, en 1938. Aquí se convirtió en buque auxiliar de formación de cadetes junto al HMS Worcester. En 1954 dejó de ser útil como buque cadete y fue trasladado al dique seco permanente de Greenwich para su exposición pública.

Es realmente bonito, a mí es una de las cosas que más me apetecía ver de esta zona, tuvimos mala suerte por el tiempo y no tuvimos unas fotos realmente bonitas pero ver el barco merece la pena

Supongo que no le gustará a todo el mundo, pero a mí sí... Sobre todo la historia del barco, la cubierta principal, y el dique seco; y de dónde vienen el nombre y el mascarón de proa... A mí me gustó mucho.
