Chimyeongjasan Sacred Catholic Ground
The Catholic Sacred Ground of Chimyeongjasan is a martyrs' shrine situated at the summit of Mount Seungamsan, southeast of Jeonju. A striking stone cross, approximately 4 metres high, stands prominently visible from various points around the site. The name 'Chimyeongja' refers to those who gave their lives for their faith. This sacred place is dedicated to Catholic martyrs executed during the religious persecutions of the 19th century, serving as a memorial to their sacrifice and an important pilgrimage destination.
