South Funeral Chamber (King)
The southern burial chamber of the Hwangnamdaechong mound is the older of two tombs within this double burial site in Gyeongju. It contains the remains of a man identified as a Silla king from the maripgan period. His grave goods were part of an extraordinary collection of over 30,000 objects recovered from the mound, testament to the power of Silla royalty and their belief in the continuation of authority in the afterlife.

Northern Funerary Chamber (Queen)
The northern burial chamber of the Hwangnamdaechong mound at Gyeongju is the royal queen's tomb, distinguished by its far richer collection of luxury goods compared to the southern chamber where the king was buried. The chamber's most significant artefact is a gold crown standing 273 mm in height—among the finest pieces from the Silla dynasty's royal burial treasures. Visit to see what to see of this remarkable 5th-century royal funerary complex.
