Sala de oración principal
The main prayer hall of Süleymaniye Mosque is a near-square space of roughly 69 × 63 metres, topped by a central dome flanked by semi-domes. Its interior is notably restrained, with ornamentation concentrated at carefully chosen points.
Mihrab y azulejos de Iznik
The mihrab and its surrounds are the only area of Süleymaniye Camii with concentrated Iznik tilework, offering a vivid burst of colour against the otherwise restrained interior.
Minaretes
The mosque's four minarets stand at the corners of the monumental courtyard. Their number and gallery arrangements follow a deliberate dynastic code tied to the sultan who commissioned them.
Tumba de Mimar Sinan
Mimar Sinan's tomb is a modest, semi-open mausoleum in the north-east corner of the Süleymaniye complex. Designed by Sinan himself, it stands in striking contrast to the grandeur of his life's work.
Madrasas del complejo
The Süleymaniye complex includes four madrasas arranged around the main mosque, forming part of the külliye's educational, religious and charitable functions — two to the west, two to the east.
Hammam (baños públicos)
Built by Mimar Sinan in 1557 as part of the mosque's külliye, this historic hammam overlooks the Golden Horn. Over 450 years old, it is one of Istanbul's oldest Turkish baths and the city's only mixed-gender one.
