La escultura de Colón es obra de Juan Sanmartín y Serra, está realizado en mármol de Carrara en la ciudad de Génova. Representa a Colón con su brazo derecho extendido señalando tierra. El pedestal es obra de Lorenzo Ros en el cual podemos leer en letra en relieve "A Cristóbal Colón el Ayuntamiento MCMXXII".
Escultura de Cristobal Colón, hecha en marmol de Carrara en 1882, por el escultor Compostelano Juan Sanmartin y Serna. Se encargó para el Arsenal Militar de Cartagena, pero la Armada cedió la escultura al Ayuntamiento , que la puso en la Muralla del Mar rodeada por un jardín y señalando a la bocana del puerto de Cartagena. A diferencia de otras estatuas a Colon, esta no señala a América.
